Plymouth's Small Group Ministry

One of the ways people connect with each other and with their faith at Plymouth is through the Small Group Ministry, which is run by the Congregational Life Committee. New groups form several times each year, and others are ongoing but open to new members. Need more information? Just ask Sharon Benton (970-482-9212 or  ).

Living Celtic Christianity

Manx Cross
This group has been meeting since 2007 and is always open to new members. Our primary aim to explore the Christian tradition in its Celtic context, primarily through Welsh, Scottish, and Irish Christian writers. The group is self-running with input from our senior minister, Hal Chorpenning. We meet at 7:00 a.m. each Wednesday in Plymouth's Conference Room.

We also live by the five-fold rule of the Iona Community :
1. Daily Prayer and Bible-reading
2. Sharing and accounting for the use of our money
3. Planning and accounting for the use of our time
4. Action for Justice and Peace in society

5. Meeting with and accounting to each other.

Some of the books we've read include:

Healing/Wholeness Prayer Group

“When we speak of Christian healing, we do not necessarily mean the restoration of perfect health,
but moving toward God’s perfect will for us at each stage of our lives”
(from Stretch Out Your Hand: Exploring Healing Prayer, T. Norberg and R. Webber).

This group meets twice a month to pray together for ourselves, others, the church and the world. We, along with Rev. Sharon Benton led services of healing and wholeness during Lent.

We meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays each month 11:30-1:00 in the conference room. You are welcome to come and bring your lunch.

Sermon Talkback

Did something about Sunday’s sermon intrigue you? confuse you? perturb you? Do you want to continue the conversation?
Join a relaxed group of Plymouth people for coffee, tea and the opportunity to “talk back” to the preacher!

Mondays at Noon in Plymouth Conference Room - bring a cup of coffee and a bag lunch.

Prayer Shawl Knitting Ministry

Pile O'Shawls

The Prayer Shawl knitters make shawls/lap robes in a spirit of love and blessing, and then distribute these prayer-filled mantles to those who need them. Many shawls are given anonymously to members of the congregation as they face challenges.

We gather on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month at 11:30 AM in either the Senior High or the Junior High room, whichever is available. Just follow the chatter! The Monday group meets in the same place at 2:45 PM during the weeks that the Thurs. group is NOT meeting. We knit and chat for about an hour, so if you like to knit and need a break, please come join us.

Living the Questions 2.0

for "beginner" Christians and those who've "heard it all"
LtQ2 is like Confirmation Class... for adults!

LtQ2 Logo

**Keep an eye on the bulletin and bulletin board for when sessions run--usually January through April/May and September through November**

LtQ2 is an progressive-minded alternative to studies that attempt to give participants all the answers and instead strives to create an environment where participants can interact with one another in exploring what's next for Christianity. Thirty acclaimed sholars, theologians and other experts share aspects of an evolving faith and concrete spiritual practices.

The Plan:

  • Sunday evenings (all except the 3rd Sunday each month--but join us then for Taizé worship)
  • 6pm gather for a light supper and fellowship, then view DVD and engage discussion
  • Held in Plymouth's Fellowship Hall & Fireside Room
  • All who are interested in exploring your faith are welcome
  • approx. $40 per person for dinner and materials (please contact Hal or Sharon if cost is a problem)

PLEASE SIGN UP IN THE FELLOWSHIP HALL OR CALL THE CHURCH OFFICE SO WE KNOW #S
